Asian Pork Pastries

Asian Pork Pastries

When it comes to culinary wonders, Asian cuisine holds a special place in the hearts of food enthusiasts worldwide. Its diversity, complexity, and unique flavors make it a beloved choice for many.

As every other person out there I, too enjoy doughy foods. Especially those with meat. These asian pork pastries are a great snack to prepare for when you’re expecting guests or when you’re travelling. Not to mention it doesn’t take too much time to make them.

The Pork Filling

The heart of any pork pastry is its filling. The filling is typically made from ground pork, which is seasoned with a variety of ingredients to create a rich and savory flavor profile. Common seasonings include soy sauce, ginger, garlic, green onions and sesame oil. You may also experiment with ingredients like mushrooms and water chestnuts to enhance the texture and taste.

Enjoying Asian Pork Pastries

Asian pork pastries are best enjoyed fresh and hot, straight from the oven or the fryer. They can be served as appetizers, snacks, or even as part of a larger meal. Many people enjoy pairing them with dipping sauces, such as soy sauce, chili oil, sweet and sour sauce, or a combination of honey-mustard, sweet & chilli sauce and sriracha to enhance the flavors.

  • 3 tbsp sweet and chilli sauce
  • 1-2 tbsp sriracha

Instructions

  • Chop green onions and cilantro and put in a separate bowl.
  • Cut the onion into cubes, mince or crush garlic cloves and grate ginger. Put them all into a separate bowl.
  • Heat up a pan and add sesame oil. Add ground pork to the pan.
  • After a few minutes add ginger, onion and garlic to the pan.
  • In the mean time preheat your oven to 180 celsius.
  • Add soy sauce and sriracha to the pork. After a few minutes add the remaining herbs – green onions and cilantro.

  • Spread some egg on the pastries and top them with sesame seeds. Cook in the oven for 25-30 mins.
  • While they're cooking make the dipping by mixing honey-mustard sauce, sweet & chilli sauce and sriracha.
  • Take the pastries out of the oven and ENJOY!
